The Calvert Area Development Association (CADA) invites the community to the Carol Capps Pink Walk on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 9 a.m. at the Calvert City Civic Center. The walk honors the legacy of Carol Capps, whose tireless advocacy helped raise awareness about breast cancer screenings and the importance of regular checkups.

Participants are encouraged to walk in unity for those we have lost, those who are fighting, and the survivors among us. Survivors are especially encouraged to attend to be recognized for their strength and resilience.

“In October, pink ribbons serve as a reminder of the lives touched by breast cancer,” said Brittany Story, president of CADA. “However you have been touched, we want to take October—and beyond—to remember and remind ourselves and those around us to be proactive and get your mammograms. We remember those whose lives have touched ours but are no longer with us and celebrate those fighting the fight now.”

T-shirts for the event will be available for purchase. If you ordered a shirt in advance, you may pick it up on Friday, October 10, between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Calvert City Civic Center.

In addition to the walk, a silent auction featuring donated items from local businesses will be held, with all proceeds benefiting breast cancer awareness initiatives. Attendees are encouraged to participate and support the cause while bidding on great local items.

The event pays tribute to Carol Capps’ lasting impact on the community and her commitment to early detection. The Pink Walk is open to all ages, and the community is invited to join CADA in showing support, raising awareness, and encouraging preventive care.
