OH ME! Have we a challenge for you! The City of Calvert City invites the community to take part in the annual Cranksgiving Challenge on the Moneymaker Trail from November 22 through November 29. This free and fun Thanksgiving week tradition welcomes runners, walkers, and cyclists of all ages and skill levels to test their endurance on a full belly after their holiday meal.
Beginning November 22, a clearly marked start and finish line will be placed along a 1-mile section of the Moneymaker Trail. Participants are encouraged to ride, walk, or run the course as many times as they wish throughout the week and record their time on the leaderboard located at the trailhead.
“This is a great way to get folks on the Moneymaker Trail,” said Blair Travis, Calvert City’s director of marketing, communication, and business development. “The full trail is five miles of wooded single-track designed by local trail creator and workhorse Steve Moneymaker. Cranksgiving gives everyone a reason to get active after Thanksgiving while enjoying one of Calvert City’s natural gems.”
The Moneymaker Trailhead is most easily accessed by parking behind City Hall and following the paved multi-use path to the left behind the Calvert Nursing and Rehab facility. The participant with the best overall time will earn bragging rights for an entire year and a cool T-shirt. Crank out some good times and have a great time doing it. The City of Calvert City wishes everyone a safe, active, and joy-filled Thanksgiving week!
