Calvert City is thrilled to announce the return of its third annual Homegrown Tomato Contest, inviting gardeners of all skill levels, from first-time growers to seasoned experts, to showcase their best homegrown tomatoes!
Everyone is welcome to participate — you don’t have to be a Calvert City resident to join the fun.
Participants can enter tomatoes grown in pots, 5-gallon buckets, or right in the ground. There’s no limit to the number of tomatoes you can submit between July 2 and September 5.
To enter, simply bring your tomato to Holly Nursery in Calvert City, where staff will weigh it on-site. Afterward, post a photo of your tomato on social media and tag Calvert City to show off your homegrown pride.
This year’s contest features three exciting categories:

Biggest Overall Ripe Tomato

Smallest Ripe Tomato
Prizes include a $50 gift card to Holly Nursery, a homegrown tomato contest t-shirt, and perhaps the best prize of all — bragging rights for the year!
