Last week the Calvert City Police Department received the certificate for accreditation by the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police (KACP). This accreditation was awarded in January 2024 and presented to Police Chief Mike Canon in August 2024 by the current president of KACP, Chief Jeremy Thompson.

The Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police Law Enforcement Accreditation Program is one of the most valuable and cost-effective ways available to departments who wish to enhance their effectiveness and professionalism. It is a progressive and time-proven way of helping police departments evaluate and improve their overall performance. Accredited departments benefit from the use of consistent and proven procedures, clearly outlined policies and efficient practices.

“277 professional policies were audited and this is the sixth accreditation certificate the Calvert City Police Department has received from KACP. The certificate is good for four years.,” said Calvert City Police Chief Mike Canon.

Participating police departments conduct a thorough analysis to determine how existing operations can be adapted to meet certain objectives. This accreditation also serves to create a feeling of confidence in residents that the Calvert City Police Department recognizes the importance of establishing and maintaining successful standards.

Congratulations to the Calvert City Police Department for its long-standing performance of excellence in the state of Kentucky!
