The Calvert Area Development Association is bringing a new experience to its long-running Carol Capps Pink Walk on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Calvert City Civic Center with the addition of the first-ever Pink Trivia Night.
The evening will begin with the Carol Capps Pink Walk at 5 p.m. Participants will recognize cancer survivors, remember those who have died and honor those who continue their fight against breast cancer.
Community members may purchase personalized yard signs to recognize loved ones affected by breast cancer. “In Honor” signs are available for survivors and those currently fighting breast cancer, while “In Memory” signs will remember those who have died from the disease. The signs will be displayed along the Pink Walk route.
In Memory and In Honor Signs are $10 each and must be ordered by Oct. 1.
Think Pink Trivia Night will begin at 6 p.m. and last approximately one hour. Trivia will be organized by the Marshall County Public Library and will test participants’ knowledge of music, science and a variety of other subjects.
Teams are encouraged to gather six friends, decorate their tables and bring their own food and drinks for the evening. Tables are $100, with proceeds benefiting Kentucky CancerLink. The organization assists local individuals facing cancer by providing wigs, caps, hotel accommodations, food and other necessities that may not be covered by insurance.
“The Carol Capps Pink Walk has always been an important opportunity to raise awareness and bring our community together to support those affected by cancer,” CADA President Brittany Story said. “We hope people will join us for the walk and stay for trivia. It is a fun new way to spend time together while raising money for a cause that directly helps individuals and families in our area.”
A silent auction will also be held during the event. Businesses and individuals interested in donating an item may contact Story at brittanys@cfsvcs.com.
Community members are invited to participate in the walk, trivia night or both as Calvert City comes together to remember, celebrate and support those affected by cancer.
