This Christmas in Calvert City feels a little different. For the first time, our beloved icon, Dave Chumbler, won’t be leading us in his annual walk to kick off the holiday season.
Dave is a true treasure in our community—always smiling, always kind, and always ready for a game of basketball. In 2021, his giving heart and vision saw a need. He organized his first “Walk,” bringing our community together to raise money for children in need. Since that first walk, Dave’s efforts have raised over $5,000.
While we’ll miss his presence this year, his legacy continues. During the November meeting of the Calvert Area Development Association, it was decided to honor Dave’s tradition by working with the Marshall County Exceptional Center and the Calvert Sharpe Family Resource Center. Together, they’ll use funds raised from the Christmas Bazaar and long-sleeve t-shirt sales to spread holiday joy.
How You Can Help:
- Purchase a long-sleeve t-shirt! Proceeds will support the Marshall County Exceptional Center and the Family Resource Center. On December 13, students from the Exceptional Center will join forces with the resource center to shop for families in need, ensuring Dave’s spirit of giving continues to shine.
- Contribute $1 at the Calvert City Christmas Bazaar on December 7 from 9 AM – 4 PM at Lakeland Event Center, Calvert City Civic Center, Calvert City First Baptist Church, and Altona Baptist Church!
- Let’s come together, as Dave taught us, to spread kindness, love, and the true meaning of Christmas.
- Shirts are available now—don’t miss your chance to keep Dave’s dream alive and make a difference this holiday season. $25 Adults, $15 Children.
Be Like Dave
Dave, your walk may have ended, but your journey of giving carries on. Thank you for inspiring us all.
