Get the Lead Out is a state-wide campaign, and by following a few steps, you can help eliminate possible contamination in your drinking water. Lead is toxic to humans, especially when it contaminates drinking water. Protecting public health is important to Calvert City Utilities.
While lead has been virtually eliminated from public utility water systems, it can still be found in older home plumbing. Homes constructed before 1988, and particularly those built before 1950, may have lead or galvanized lines which can increase the possibility of lead contamination in the drinking water.
If your utility bill has “GET THE LEAD OUT” this means you have not completed the survey. Completion of the survey is crucial to the success of our water department. Without completing the survey, it prevents our utility department from acquiring grants and other funding opportunities. The survey can be completed in under five minutes online, or you can go to Calvert City Hall and complete a paper copy.
If you don’t feel comfortable completing the survey, please call Calvert City Utility Department and they can send someone to assist in distinguishing the type of materials used.
