Calvert Area Development Association (CADA) is proud to announce Nan Donohoo, beloved local business owner and long-time community supporter, as the grand marshal of the 2025 Ameribration Parade, taking place on Friday, July 4 at 6 PM, along 5th Ave.
Nan Donohoo has called Marshall County home since the age of three. A 1977 graduate of Marshall County High School, she pursued a business education and has since built a life rooted in service, entrepreneurship, and family. She and her husband, Jeff, have shared over four decades together with deep ties to the community.
Donohoo is best known as the owner and heart behind Sunshine Pools & Spas, a small business she and her family launched in 2014 on Highway 62 in Calvert City. With over 30 years in the swimming pool industry, Donohoo has grown her business into a staple in the community, now offering pool services, tanning beds, specialty gifts, and livestock feed. Alongside her daughter, Alicia, and her late son Jordan, both are instrumental to the success of the business.
Nan and Jeff have two children and a bonus daughter, Bri, and five grandchildren. She and her family have faithfully attended Pathway Baptist Church for over 30 years and regularly support local initiatives, from youth organizations to sponsoring community events, including contributions to the Marching Marshals Band and other civic causes.
“I love serving Calvert City as a business owner,” said Donohoo. “We get support right back from the community and have truly seen and felt this during the challenging time our family has been through. I’m incredibly honored to be named Grand Marshal. Thank you for this opportunity—it means the world to us.”
Now celebrating its 35th year, Ameribration is a cherished community tradition organized jointly by CADA and the City of Calvert City. This year’s festive theme, “Christmas in July,” adds a playful twist to the celebration, blending patriotic pride with holiday cheer. The event showcases the spirit of small-town patriotism with a full day of family fun, including the Ameribration Parade, fireworks, live music, food vendors, and more.
The parade lineup begins at 5:00 PM and is organized by Calvert City Masonic Lodge and Calvert Area Development Association. Special thanks to Pathway Baptist Church for allowing the use of their parking lot to line up the parade. Prizes will be given to the best-decorated float, best-decorated golf cart, and best classic car. Please note that all parade decorations must be appropriate for a broad audience—no controversial items may be used. Additionally, to maintain the spirit of unity during the parade, the only flags permitted on display will be the American flag. Follow the parade to Calvert Memorial Park for free popsicles provided by CADA and find your spot in Doctor’s Park for the best fireworks in western Kentucky beginning at dusk.
