Local Author Cecil Moore to hold a book reading at Marshall County Public Library @ Calvert City

The Marshall County Public Library @ Calvert City will host a special book reading by local author Cecil Moore on February 27 at 2:00 PM. Moore will be reading from his newly released book, The View from the Other Side of the Tracks, a deeply personal and historical account of life in Little Cypress, Kentucky.

At the age of 14, Moore was inspired by the last two verses of Malachi in the Old Testament. That moment led him to interview his parents, grandparents, and other family members, documenting their stories and perspectives. By the time he was 16 and able to drive, he expanded his research by visiting courthouses to verify the information shared by his family, sparking a lifelong passion for genealogy.

The View from the Other Side of the Tracks is co-authored by Moore’s late mother, Irene Nuckolls Moore, and is divided into two compelling sections. The first part is a memoir written by Irene before her passing in 2008, offering a firsthand account of life in Little Cypress. The second part, written by Moore, provides an in-depth historical record of the area, including details about the original recipients of Jackson Purchase land grants in 1819 and the significant events and figures that have shaped the community since then.

Copies of The View from the Other Side of the Tracks will be available for purchase at the event for $20. This is a unique opportunity for history enthusiasts, genealogy researchers, and local residents to hear directly from the author about the book’s journey from family stories to a published historical account.
