The Calvert City Lions Club is kicking off St. Patrick’s Day festivities with a brand-new addition to its beloved Pancake Breakfast tradition—the Calvert City Lions Dash & Pancake Smash 5K on March 8 at 8 AM at Calvert City Elementary School.

For over 50 years, Calvert City residents and visitors have gathered to enjoy a hearty breakfast featuring the club’s famous homemade maple syrup. This year, the event is bigger than ever with the introduction of a 5K race, allowing participants to work up an appetite before indulging in stacks of golden pancakes.

“The Lions Club has been serving up pancakes for decades, and one thing that hasn’t changed is the homemade maple syrup,” said Wendy Elrod, president of the Calvert City Lions Club. “This year, we’re adding a new way to bring the community together—a fun and festive 5K. Whether you run, walk, or just show up for the pancakes, we welcome everyone to join in the tradition.”

The 5K race course will wind through Calvert City Doctors Park and Calvert City Memorial Park, offering a scenic run before finishing back at the elementary school. Participants are encouraged to embrace the St. Patrick’s Day spirit by wearing their best green gear—or even dressing as leprechauns!

Race & Breakfast Details:

Registration Deadline for Guaranteed T-Shirt: February 14
Early Registration (Jan. 10 – Feb. 14): $40 (includes t-shirt & breakfast)
Late Registration (Feb. 15 – Mar. 7): $45 (includes breakfast)
Day of Race Registration (Mar. 8): $50 (includes breakfast)

All registered 5K participants receive a free pancake breakfast, while non-runners/walkers can enjoy all-you-can-eat pancakes for $7. Children 6 and under eat free.

Age group awards will be presented in the following categories: 12 & under, 13-16, 17-26, 27-36, 37-46, 47-56, 57-69, and 70+.
