The community is invited to gather for the Calvert Cares Suicide Prevention Walk at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Memorial Park.
The walk serves as a citywide acknowledgment that Calvert City supports and cares for those affected by suicide. Participants will come together to raise awareness, share stories, mourn, and remember those who have died.
“Raising awareness reminds people that they are not alone and that help is available,” CADA President Brittany Story said. “By coming together as a community, we can reduce the stigma surrounding suicide and encourage more people to reach out when they need support.”
Patty Canon will be the featured speaker. She will share the story of losing her son and reflect on the importance of hope, support, and suicide prevention.
With the community’s participation, Calvert Cares will be more than a walk. It will be a public message that every life matters and that no one should struggle alone.
No one else can play your part. T-shirts will be for sale at the event for $15.
Anyone experiencing a mental health crisis or concerned about someone else can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
