Calvert City residents are advised of upcoming changes to the garbage pick-up system beginning Tuesday, January 16, 2024. The city is enforcing these changes to prioritize the safety of employees and enhance operational efficiency.

Key Changes:

1. City-issued Cans – Starting January 16, it is mandatory to use city-issued trash cans for street garbage disposal. This measure ensures the safety of our dedicated employees, as these cans are specifically designed to fit seamlessly onto the garbage truck’s tipper.

2. Bagging requirements – Residents are urged to bag and tie their trash bags and break down cardboard boxes. This practice is essential to maintain a clean and efficient garbage  collection process.

3. Additional fee for second city-issued trash can – Households with two city-issued trash cans will incur an additional fee for the second can. To avoid this charge, residents can contact Calvert City Hall to arrange the removal of the second city-issued trash can. The additional fee is $7 for front pickups and $10.50 for back pickups.

4. Purchase of additional city-issued trash can – Households with only one city-issued can who wish to purchase a second trash can can do so by contacting Calvert City Hall. The additional fee for a second can is $7 for front yard pickup and $10.50 for backyard pickup.

5. Strict enforcement for personal cans – Placing personal trash cans by the road will result in non-collection beginning January 16. It is crucial to adhere to these rules for the safety of our employees and to ensure equality among all residents.

How to make arrangements:

Calvert City Public Works appreciates the cooperation of its residents in implementing these changes. These changes are part of the city’s ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency and prioritize the well-being of our employees. By doing so, we aim to create a cleaner and safer environment for everyone.
