The Calvert City Police Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Officer Timothy Ryan Thacker, who joins the department to fill a vacant officer position.

Known by family, friends, and colleagues as Ryan, Thacker brings nearly eight years of law enforcement experience to Calvert City. Originally from Eastern Kentucky, he attended the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training Basic Training Academy in Richmond, graduating in 2017. Following graduation, he began his law enforcement career with the Princeton Police Department at age 21 and served the community there for nearly eight years.

After stepping away from law enforcement for a year to work at the Western Kentucky Correctional Complex, Thacker realized his passion for policing remained strong.

“It was hard to stay away from policing, and I decided to come back to the force,” Thacker said.

Thacker made the move across the state to be closer to family. He lives in Princeton with his wife and their son, Ezra, who celebrated his third birthday in April. Thacker jokes that Ezra is an “April Fools’ baby,” having been born on April 1.

Mayor Gene Colburn said the addition of Officer Thacker strengthens the department’s ongoing commitment to public safety.
