The City of Calvert City is requesting residents and businesses to voluntarily limit water usage over the next 48 hours due to a significant leak in the city’s raw water supply line. While this type of issue is rare, it requires immediate attention and the full support of the community to ensure the water system can recover once repairs are completed.

This situation does not constitute a boil water advisory. The water remains safe to drink and use; however, conservation is essential during this time to allow the system’s water supply to rebuild and stabilize.

“We are asking for the community’s help in reducing water usage as we work to resolve the issue,” said Bobby Henson, Calvert City Utility Superintendent. “This is a rare occurrence, but it’s one that demands quick action and strong cooperation to maintain the integrity of our water system.”

Ways Residents Can Help Conserve Water:

  • Postpone laundry and dishwasher use.

  • Limit shower times and turn off water when brushing teeth or shaving.

  • Avoid washing vehicles or outdoor surfaces.

  • Delay filling pools, hot tubs, or ornamental fountains.

  • Temporarily shut off irrigation or sprinkler systems.

  • Repair any known water leaks promptly.

City crews are working diligently to identify and repair the leak, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available. For questions or additional information, please contact Calvert City Hall at (270) 395-7138 or by email at info@calvertcityky.gov.
