We had an amazing time at the Sustainability Garden at Kentucky Dam Village, filled with fun, learning, and a whole lot of creativity. A big thank you to our wonderful partners the Marshall County Public Library, Marshall County Master Gardeners, and the 3rd grade class at Calvert City Elementary for making this event happen!👏
We painted, planted marigolds 🌼, learned about recycling ♻️, explored the walking trails 🌳, and created an Earth Day quilt! 🎨
We are grateful for this community effort to teach and inspire the next generation to care for our planet 💙 #EarthDay

More than 30 paddlers joined us April 1 for a beautiful evening on the water welcoming the Pink Moon, and yes, it really did have a rosy glow!💕
Thank you to KY Dam Village State Resort Park our volunteers and the Tennessee RiverLine for providing a fleet of kayaks. Sixteen people used the free kayaks, including several experiencing the water via kayak for the first time. ☀️
We love seeing our community come together for moments like this and we are already looking forward to the next paddle. 🛶 @tnriverline @visitkylake @kentucky_dam_village

We had a great time at the Glass Fusion class at the Calvert City Civic Center!
Thank you to Jackie from Funky Monkey Pottery in Draffenville for leading such a fun class. Everyone did an amazing job on their projects.
Glass fusion is the art of taking a base piece of glass, adding a design with smaller pieces of glass, and then firing it in a kiln so it melts into one finished piece.
We loved seeing everyone’s creativity come to life! #glassfusion

On Monday, Feb. 23, city officials, council members, and local leaders gathered for an exclusive VIP event to mark the soft opening of the historical horse racing facility at Marshall Yards.
Mayor Gene Colburn had the honor of placing the first bet, officially pulling the first historical horse racing machine lever and ushering in a new era of entertainment and economic development for the region.
The facility is operated by Churchill Downs Incorporated, a company with deep roots in Kentucky history. Known worldwide for hosting the Kentucky Derby since 1875, Churchill Downs has long been a cornerstone of the commonwealth’s equine heritage.
Marshall Yards represents a significant investment in Calvert City, bringing more than 100 new jobs to the community. The development has transformed what was once a dark and underutilized area along Interstate 24 into a vibrant and welcoming gateway for residents and visitors.
“This project represents more than a new entertainment venue. It represents momentum,” Mayor Colburn said. “We are seeing real community growth, new jobs for our citizens, and thoughtful development that enhances the entrance to our city. Marshall Yards is proof that Calvert City is moving forward, and we believe this is just the beginning of even more opportunities along the Interstate 24 corridor.”
The official grand opening of Marshall Yards is set for Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 10:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend and help celebrate this exciting new chapter for Calvert City.

Thank you, Calvert City ❤️
We are grateful to our residents for their patience and cooperation as our community worked through a challenging week of winter weather. Staying off the roads and keeping vehicles out of the streets made a meaningful difference and allowed crews to work safely and effectively.🚧🚛💪
A special thank you to our Public Works Department for their dedication and long hours. Since last Friday, a five man crew treated more than 18 square miles of city streets, continuing their work even as layers of snow followed by ice created hard packed conditions that were difficult to remove. Despite those challenges, the team never stopped working to improve road conditions. Job well done.❄️
We also want to recognize our garbage collection crew for not missing a single day this week, and our police, fire and EMS personnel for continuing to keep our community safe throughout the storm.🗑️
Calvert City is strong because of the people who serve it and the neighbors who look out for one another. Thank you all.💙

The Calvert City Calendar box is getting slim!
📆Why should you pick up a city calendar?📆
Sure, it helps you keep track of the days, months, and year. But that is just the beginning!
Each calendar features beautiful photographs submitted by your neighbors, showcasing our community through local eyes.
Even better...
The calendar includes a full year of planned city events, reminders for City Council meetings, water cutoff dates, household bulk pickup, loose leaf vacuum schedules, city closure dates, and when the garbage truck is running (and when it isn’t)!
One simple calendar keeps everything you need in one place. Pick one up and stay connected all year long at City Hall, Food Giant, Calvert City Shop-O-Rama, Basket Case Florist and Gifts, or Tan Lines until they run out! #citycalendar #cityphotocontest
