Calvert City Food Truck Friday started in Memorial Park with six food trucks lined up to serve on May 3.
Calvert City organized the first Food Truck Friday in 2019. “Over the last six years, food trucks have become common in Calvert City. We started with three trucks and now we are up to 21 in rotation. The struggle to find a safe place in the city was difficult. This event allows food trucks to safely park their trucks in a high-traffic area during our busy lunch hours,” says Blair Travis, director of marketing and business development for Calvert City.
The event runs every Friday in the spring and summer. Hours of operation are May – July from 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM. Friday’s in August – September will be held in the evening from 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM in Memorial Park.
The list of food trucks is posted weekly on Calvert City’s Facebook and Instagram. There is no charge to set up a food truck or food tent. If electricity is requested there is a $10 charge each Friday.
Within the city to sell food from a food truck, a zoning compliance form is required. The one-time fee is $25 which allows food trucks to set up in business districts in the city. To download the zoning compliance form, click HERE and bring the completed form to Calvert City Hall located at 861 5th Ave in Calvert City, Kentucky. City Hall Hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Follow Calvert City on Facebook or visit calvertcityky.gov for more information on upcoming events. If you are interested in participating in Food Truck Friday, call (270) 395-7138 or email info@calvertcityky.gov.

The KY Dam Spring Paddle Up is a family-friendly paddle event in partnership with the City of Calvert City, Calvert Area Development Association, and the Tennessee RiverLine. Paddling almost five miles downstream, the event will be held on May 18 at KY Dam Boat Launch and ending at Haddox Ferry.
Bring a kayak, canoe, or any other worthy paddle craft for a scenic and leisurely paddle down the Tennessee River. For those who do not own a kayak but want to participate, 12 kayaks are available to reserve. The deadline to register is May 16.
Check-in is from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at the KY Dam Boat Launch just below Kentucky Dam near the Kentucky Dam State Park Campground. Paddlers will drop their kayaks at the KY Dam Boat Launch and take their vehicles to Haddox Ferry. From Haddox Ferry, a shuttle service provided by Pathway Baptist Church will bring paddlers back to the KY Dam Boat Launch for the Paddle beginning at 9 a.m.
“The estimated time on the water is typically around two hours and paddlers can go as fast or as slow as they are comfortable paddling,” said Blair Travis, Calvert City Director of Marketing, Communications and Business Development. A lunch voucher will be provided to all paddlers after the event at a local restaurant.
Marshall County Rescue Squad will be on-site floating alongside the group. All paddlers must wear a life jacket and know how to swim. A brief safety course will be held before the launch of the group.
Click HERE to reserve your spot beginning April 29! Weather will be closely monitored and if the water is unsafe to paddle the event will be canceled and not rescheduled.
Questions regarding the KY Dam Spring Paddle Up should call Calvert City Hall at (270) 395-7138 or by emailing info@calvertcityky.gov.
