Calvert City, Kentucky (November 15, 2024) – Thanksgiving is a time for full bellies and relaxation in recollecting the colonial Pilgrims1621 harvest meal. Join us on November 23-30 for a challenge with the only thing required to have is a full belly.

The Calvert City Cranksgiving Challenge will be held on a section of The Moneymaker Trail during the week of Thanksgiving. Crank out this timed challenge by biking, running, or walking this 1.5-mile course. Organizers are relying on the honor system for those up for the challenge.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our newest trail. Steve Moneymaker and many others do such a great job of upkeep on the trail, and we would love to see more folks enjoy it,” said Blair Travis, director of marketing, communications, and business development.

This friendly competition is a way to get out and get active during the week of Thanksgiving. Participants can walk, ride, or run the trail as many times as they wish during November 23-30 while tracking their time. There will be a start line and a finish line to mark when to start and stop your timer.

Age ranges for this are divided into elementary, middle school, and high school, adults 18-64, and adults 65+.

At the finish line, participants will find the leaderboard. Find your age group and if your time beats the time on the leaderboard, add your name to the board. Names listed on the leaderboard on December 1 will be the challenge winners and hold bragging rights for a year.

Be sure to share photos with Calvert City on social media of your finish time, the challenge, and the leaderboard. Please be courteous to all trail users as this is a shared challenge of running, biking, and walking.

The best way to access the Moneymaker Trail is by parking behind Calvert City Hall (861 E 5th Ave) and following the multi-use trail behind the Calvert City Nursing and Rehab until you see the trailhead sign.
