Calvert City, KY – (April 8, 2025) Although recent flash flood warnings have ended, residents of Calvert City—particularly those living near the Tennessee River and its tributaries should remain alert. Rising river levels may still cause flooding in some areas.

If you live in one of these areas and your home is prone to flooding, now is the time to prepare. Areas of concern include:

  • Arizona Street
  • Arizona Drive
  • B Avenue
  • Alabama Street
  • Oaklawn Lane
  • 2nd Avenue

Sandbags are available for residents and can be delivered upon request if within the areas of concern. To schedule sandbag delivery, please contact Calvert City Hall at (270) 395-7138.

Churches in Calvert City have kindly volunteered to assist in placing sandbags where needed. In addition to sandbags, plastic sheeting is available—donated by a local business—and will be distributed by local churches.

Please remember:

  • Sandbags are not waterproof. They help direct water flow and reduce damage, but they must be used with plastic sheeting to be effective.
  • When placing sandbags, lay plastic sheeting first, then stack sandbags in a staggered pattern like bricks. Make sure bags are tightly packed and placed against entry points such as doors, garages, and basement openings.
  • After the chance of flooding has ended, sandbags must be brought to the road for Calvert City Public Works to dispose of.

These sandbags were generously provided by the Marshall County Street Department, Calvert City Public Works, and local volunteers who continue to work hard to support our community. For more information, please contact Calvert City Hall at 270-395-7138.
