The Calvert City Police Department is happy to welcome a new police officer to the community. Calvert City Mayor Gene Colburn gave the Oath of Office to Shannon Oliver to be sworn into the Calvert City Police Department. Officer Oliver will begin his service on Monday, July 22.

Shannon is a 2002 graduate of Lyon County High School. In 2005, Shannon gained experience as a correctional officer at the Kentucky State Penitentiary. In 2007 Lyon County Sheriff Kent Murphy hired Shannon as a deputy and he was sent to the Department of Criminal Justice and Training Academy in Richmond Kentucky where in 2008 he graduated basic training and received the Peace Officer Professional Standards (POPS) Certificate. Deputy Oliver gained much law enforcement experience while employed with the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. In 2015, Deputy Oliver laterally transferred to the Eddyville Police Department. He has been with the Eddyville Police Department for eight years. Officer Oliver brings 16 years of law enforcement experience to the Calvert City Police Department. Welcome Officer Shannon Oliver!
