The Purchase Area Coffee and Chocolate Festival is returning for its fourth year at the Calvert City Civic Center on March 7 and 8. Co-hosted by the City of Calvert City and the Calvert Area Development Association, the annual event celebrates small businesses and the welcoming of spring.

Guests will enjoy sampling and shopping from more than 30 vendors from across the Purchase Area and Western Kentucky. The festival will feature a wide range of specialty foods, handcrafted goods, and unique products, allowing attendees to taste, browse, and connect with the talented small business owners who make the region so special.

Admission is $1 per person and includes sampling products throughout the festival.

To ensure the event is welcoming for all, a low-sensory shopping experience will be offered on Sunday from 9 to 10 a.m. The low-sensory shopping experience is designed to provide a calmer, more comfortable environment for guests who may feel overwhelmed by large crowds or high noise levels. During this time, attendance will be limited to allow for smaller crowds and a quieter atmosphere. This dedicated hour allows individuals and families to browse and enjoy the festival at a more relaxed pace.

Residents looking to explore their creative side will soon have the opportunity during an upcoming Glass Fusion Workshop at the Calvert City Civic Center.

The workshop will take place on March 12 from 6 to 8 PM and will be organized by Funky Monkey Pottery. The class is designed for beginners and requires no prior experience with glass art. During the hands-on session, participants will learn the basics of glass fusion and create either a square window piece or a decorative night light to take home.

The event, hosted by the City of Calvert City, offers community members a fun, accessible way to experience the arts. The cost to attend is $25 plus tax.

“Creative opportunities like this are an important part of building a vibrant community,” said Blair Travis, director of marketing, communications, and business development for the City of Calvert City. “Art brings people together and gives residents a chance to try something new, learn a skill, and discover talents they may not have known they had. We are excited to partner with Funky Monkey Pottery to bring this experience to Calvert City.”

Space for the workshop is limited. Participants are asked to register by 4 PM on March 10.
